One of the first Marvel films fully supported by Marvel Comics. Rather than simply signing the rights away and taking a chance on the director's "Vision", as with other franchises, Iron Man had Marvel support throughout production and it really shows.
Marvel raised money (~$500million) for future film projects and is taking a more active role in creative control to produce movies for the FANS, not Hollywood. I sincerely hope this is a sign of things to come. Too bad they were a lil too late to save Spiderman 3 (ugg).
Outstanding film, definately a must see. Great character development, surprisingly good story for a 2nd tier comic, and the chemistry was spot on.

I loved this movie. It was a great story and had plenty of action. Enough to keep me in my seat for 2 hours. Robert Downey Jr. was the perfect Ironman too. I hope there will be a sequel that is just as great a move is this one was.

My son was begging to see this a second time after catching it with his friends. I was un-psyched, but it's really fun: fast-paced (until the CGI takes over near the end), wonderfully cast, and pretty darn witty for an action movie. Memo to Hollywood: Cast Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow in action movies, and you'll get parents happily paying for tickets as well as their kids!

I usually go into these types of movies pretty weary of cheesy dialogue and graphics. I found myself loving the script and all the mind blowing action. I even hated the villian and got upset with him...very rare for me. Downy was excellent, definately see this movie if you haven't already.

I expected this movie to be more comic than serious. Most of our family enjoyed the story, except my 10 year old daughter did not like the characters. I was afraid it would be too intense for my 6 year old, but he really liked the movie.

Great action, great fun, great acting. Robert Downy Jr., in particular, was fantastic. Can't wait for Black Fury. Don't forget to wait to the end of the credits to get a peak at the sequel.

Despite my fiance who is a huge comic book freak and who felt the character was not like the one in the books we both enjoyed this movie.
I was surprised by the humor in it. I had gone to this movie as a way to get my fiance to next go to one I chose. But I was pleasently surprised at how much I enjoyed the film and found myself really getting into the story line and caught up in the action.
The special effects and the sets were quite well done and I can see them being nominated for a few awards.
I would recommend this movie to both those who were into comic books and those like me who had no idea who Ironman was.
Ladies this is a good movie to choose for when you go to the movies for him.

Loved every minute of this movie, wished it would go on for another hour! Ok, so it is completelly far out and unrealistic but that is exactly what I wanted and expected. The trailers I have seen gave nothing away. The bad guyes were really bad and the good guyes adorable, especially Ms Potts. Made me with for a happily ever after. Do we see a Iron Man 2 in the future?

Great movie made better by 70mm Cinerama venue in Seattle (one of only 3 in the world). As Marvel Studios first "solo" production, I have to believe their investment will be returned to them 2-3 fold with this well made movie. Effects were spectacular as Iron Man is brought to the screen. Robert Downey, Jr. shows good range and his past personal challenges add to his presentation. If this series continues, I see him as I see Michael Keaton as Batman: a bit edgy with issues that torment him. And the bit with "Shield"....I didn't see it coming and I had to smile.
Best laughs came at his interaction with his robot as well as the walls...ceilings...floors. Must be tough to master a flying suit.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Jeff Bridges also were excellent in their roles.
Obviously I'm a lousy reviewer, because I liked it. And with a 70mm Cinerama screen to see it on (twice the size)...in the balcony...it was great!

I'm a huge fan of the Marvel Comics movies and I must say that this movie is BY FAR the best of them yet! Robert Downey Jr. plays his best role ever, and it's so good to see Gwenyth Paltrow back on the big screen! Phenominal acting, great direction, awesome music, fun for the whole family! I must admit being a huge comic book fan as a kid that Marvel has upped the ante once again with this one! The story line was dead on (with a few additions to make it up-to date) and the special affects are simply top notch. This is a must see on the large screen, don't wait for the DVD or you will definitely miss out!!

First of all, it is a fantastic movie. Well done! Second, however, I have to admit that this movie is so dominated by the excellent acting of RDjr, that "Iron Man" are shuffed to the background. This is to be expected though, as Iron Man IS Tony Stark and it is not the same case for instance where Batman has a different "personality"than Bruce Wayne. So expedct to see more Tony Stark than Iron Man in this movie and quite rightly so.

I rarely go out to the movies but this one got me out the door and I am glad I went. There was great acting (Robert Downey Jr. never disappoints) and the dialogue was intelligent and witty. All four of our group thought it was the best of the comic book-derived movies. Highly recommended.

Director Jon Favreau made an excellent entrance into the world of Marvel Comics. While Iron Man could be seen as the hero of my father's generation (I'm 27) it had a strong pull with many of my friends.
Unlike 'action film' directors, Jon Favreau clearly attempted to direct a movie. That means character develpment, plot, storyline and yes, action. The movie features Robert Downey Jr., who does not seem the hero type. However, minutes into the film as we are seeing the flaws and the smug humor, a lightbulb flicks on and you are filled with satisfaction at his selection to play Iron Man.
At a hair over 2 hours, the movie feels just right. The story is told, the thirst for action has been satiated, and there's even time to dangle the rumored sequel(s) and spin-offs (don't leave before the end of the credits!).
This movie is perfect for Marvel fans and people just looking to have a good time.

I took my 7 year old to see this movie and I was shocked at how violent it was. His eyes were covered for about the first 40 minutes of the movie. The movie is pg-13 but I had heard from other people that kids my sons age were going to see this movie so I thought we would check it out. For thirteen and up this movie is great.
