Director Jon Favreau made an excellent entrance into the world of Marvel Comics. While Iron Man could be seen as the hero of my father's generation (I'm 27) it had a strong pull with many of my friends. Unlike 'action film' directors, Jon Favreau clearly attempted to direct a movie. That means character develpment, plot, storyline and yes, action. The movie features Robert Downey Jr., who does not seem the hero type. However, minutes into the film as we are seeing the flaws and the smug humor, a lightbulb flicks on and you are filled with satisfaction at his selection to play Iron Man. At a hair over 2 hours, the movie feels just right. The story is told, the thirst for action has been satiated, and there's even time to dangle the rumored sequel(s) and spin-offs (don't leave before the end of the credits!). This movie is perfect for Marvel fans and people just looking to have a good time.
