Most movies based on comicbook heroes that are relatively "unknown" are generally bad. This one was great from beginning to end, and kept true to the character. Robert Downey Jr. played a masterful job as Tony Stark. The special effects were great, but it did not show everything that could be done by Iron Man leaving the door open for more amazing things from future storylines. The subtle humor was great. Great job by Favreau in directing this film. This is a defintie must see.

Action packed, humorous, good plot and character development. I know Robert Downey Jr. is a talented actor but I honestly had my doubts about him as an action hero. Wow...he certainly delivered and made his character very believable. Jeff Bridges made an excellent bad guy, one of the best I've seen in the movies in a long time.

I took my husband to see this movie with really no interest in it for myself whatsoever. When we left the theater, I told him I want to buy it when it's released on DVD....I just loved it! I would highly recommend this to anyone seeking an adventure-packed movie!

I brought my son to see this movie and we both totally enjoyed it. This is a great movie with a great story. Jeff Bridges and Robert Downey Jr. were definitely on top of their game when making this film. I am not usually a fan of sitting at a movie for more than an hour and a half, but I was able to sit through this two hour movie with no complaints.

The movie was definitely great. I brought my 10 & 12 year old boys. I think it was borderline for the 12 year old and it was too intense for my 10 year old. They used a few bad words and there was a mild love scene in the beginning. The beginning of the show had a lot of raw violence. Once you get past the 1st 20 minutes it is fine. Nothing that covering their eyes wouldn't hurt. It did get a bit intense when they were going to put a burning hot piece of coal in a man's mouth. That image was not nice for them to think about.

My 10 year old son and I thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie. The story was good and it was a mix of action and comedy. In the beginning, the set up was good and the storyline flowed. My son wanted to wait to the end of the credits to make sure he saw everything.

WOW, WOW, & AGAIN, WOW!!!! IF I COULD GIVE THIS MOVIE 10 STARS HERE ON MOVIETICKETS.COM, I WOULD!!!! This, BY FAR, beats ALL the other Marvel Comic movies to date, especially SpiderMan which looks childish compared to this.
ROBERT DOWNEY JR.IS SOOOO SEXY & **SUPER** as Tony Stark:he's funny, hunky, & ABSOLUTELY PERFECT in this lead role; Gwyneth Paltrow was an AMAZING Pepper Potts, the all-time BEST assistant anyone could have, especially a super-hero; Terrence Howard was funny & TERRIFIC as IronMan's friend/assistant; & once again, JEFF BRIDGES, WHO IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE ACTORS, as the ultimate bad guy, always so fabulous in his evil roles, way supersedes anything he's previously done in this role--LOVE the bald head too, it really "makes" his bad guy character, this lady finds it VERY SEXY, ALONG WITH THE BEARD & MUSTACHE--PLEASE KEEP IT ALL!! :):) I've actually ALWAYS thought he was sexy....
This movie actually has a PLOT to it--a REAL STORY, that just hooks you immediately after the movie begins, & doesn't let go until the absolute end. THERE'S NO POSSIBLE WAY TO BE BORED AT THIS MOVIE, AS IT IS NON-STOP ACTION, & all of the special inventions & gadgets in it are just soooooo amazing--wish we had stuff like that in real life! And those ironman suits--WOW, IT ALL LOOKED SO REAL, there were no "fuzzy lines" on either Obadiah or Ironman, so it looked real as opposed to special effects, you really couldn't tell at all. WHOEVER DID THESE SPECIAL EFFECTS DESERVES AN AWARD, BIG TIME!!!
In closing, let me just say: I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THIS MOVIE AGAIN, & I'M CHOMPING AT THE BIT FOR THE SEQUEL--I HOPE THEY HURRY UP ON IT, BECAUSE I THINK I'M GOING TO HAVE WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS UNTIL THEN, & WILL PROBABLY WEAR OUT PLAYING THE DVD AFTER I BUY IT!!

This is a very fun and entertaining movie...the subject matter at times was not for middle aged kids (13-14) as was not case with other Marvel movies in the past. More for adults and older kids as the rating indicates. Robert Downey Jr and Jeff Bridges do fine acting jobs with their respective characters.

My cousin and I both loved it, and I've already recommended it to a friend. I'm not normally the action thriller type, but this was so well-done and well acted. It has us clinging to each other when the good guys were in trouble, and clapping when they rallied. Weaknesses: a wee bit predictable, and wasn't thrilled by the ending, but maybe that's just setting us up for the sequel, which I'd go see, too :-)

I've been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Iron Man in theaters ever since I saw the first trailer over a year ago. I was vaguely familiar with the comics and the cartoon show, plus I'm a sucker for superheroes who don't have any superpowers and have made themselves heroes on their own (i.e., Batman). I first saw this movie the weekend after it came out and just loved it. There was action, comedy, a little dash of romance and Robert Downey Jr. was HOT. I highly recommend this film to anybody that wants a thrill ride. When Tony Stark first tests out his suit for flying capabilities. . .wow, I felt like I was right there with him.

It was a great date night movie for my husband and I. Lots of action for him and a really great story line. Thanks for taking on the defense industry. Robert Downey Jr is very funny and I am really glad he is successfully back in the industry.

Even my seven year old son had hard time believing that if such machines are possible that can endure such extremes. I think the story was good and the CGI and sound effects were great but the movie could have been better if it was made closer to reality.

Being fans of "Super-Hero" movies, our family of four thoroughly enjoyed this one! There was never a dull moment. This movie had everything from romance, betrayal, and humor to friendship, patriotism, heroism, and action! I'd watch it again in a 'New York' minute.
No one but Robert Downey, Jr. could have played the infamous, wise-cracking and ever so sexy Tony Stark. And Terrence Howard's character was the loyal sidekick that everyone wishes he or she had. HIs additon to the cast polishes off the movie. Don't miss this one!!

I have no idea what the original story was behind iron man, but this movie is a very clever take on it. Tony Stark, a genius who runs a highly successful weapons manufacturing company he inherited from his father, travels to Afghanistan to demonstrate a new ultra-weapon, called Jericho. On the way back from the demonstration, his convoy is attacked and he is taken prisoner by a warlord who wants Stark to create a Jericho weapon for himself. Instead, he creates a mechanized robotic suit of armor which he uses to escape. When he returns home, he realizes that his company has been supplying weapons to both sides and decides to use his wealth and technological prowess for good, by building a better and more powerful version of the armored suit.
There are several great things about this movie. First and foremost is Robert Downey, Jr's brilliant acting. Second is the amazing special effects. Third is the complex dynamics showing that the arms trade is often an end in itself and that arms dealers will provide them to anyone who can come up with the cash. There are great supporting characters (Gwyneth Paltrow as Stark's assistant, Jeff Bridges as his evil nemesis, the corrupt corporate executive Obadiah Stane and Terrence Howard as Stark's contact in the US Military.
Aside from the evil Obadiah Stane and the Afghan warlord, the story avoids portraying characters as stereotypes. The US Military is portrayed in a positive light, just trying to do their jobs. The conflict in Afghanistan is portrayed realistically (perhaps a bit too realistically) and shows the terrible collateral damage to innocent civilians when they are caught in the middle of a war. Although rated PG, in my view it is too intense for children under 10. There is very little graphic violence, but a lot of implied violence and suspense.
I'm sure there will be sequels.
