The film was well paced and scripted. The writers (Arthur Marcum, Matthew Hollaway, Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, Jack Kirby, Don Heck) managed to keep the film grounded, while allowing the more fantastical elements to shine through. Favreau showed he is a true fan of the source material. He managed to keep the film true to its core story and still grow and evolve into a new medium.
As to the acting, Downy and Howard are both good but the real gem in the film is Bridges as the villain Stane. You watch is character grow from business man to super villain nicely, and unlike many super hero films, Bridges seems an even match for Downey's Ironman

If your a fan or a novice its a fun flick. Robert Downey Jr is Tony Stark! Just FYI stay til all the credits are over! Buea Bridges was a great villian. There definately will be a sequel! Its a 2 hour movie but you don't realize it.

It's a proud day for Comic fans and an even brighter day for Iron Man fans. Jon Favreau got the man behind the mask and the circumstances that create the hero perfectly. There is an easter egg at the end of the movie which is the best I have seen in years. It was worth the wait after the credits. I look forward to the sequel.

Great movie. Lots of similar audio video principles and effects to Transformers but very detailed and well done. Great story line and Robert Downey Jr is AWESOME!!

My husband is an Iron Man fan. He was an avid reader of the comic book series. He was "blown away" by the CI in the movie. It was much better than we anticpated it would be. GO SEE IT!!!

The challenge with some superhero movies is that producers want to appeal to fans and non-fans, so there's a delicate line to walk. Thankfully, IRON MAN is a fun and exciting, accessible action movie about a guy who just so happens to be a superhero.
The casting of Robert Downey, Jr. was inspired. He absolutely soaked up and lived out every aspect of Tony Stark and had the audience eating out of the palm of his hand. Definitely one of the most charismatic and sympathetic heroes ever on the big screen. The special effects were CGI but believable and there were plenty of easter eggs for the most strident comic book fans. The action sequences were exciting, even the end battle between the two lead characters (did seem a little Transformer-ish, though).
IRON MAN was about as solid of a translation from comic book to screen as any others that have ever been done.

Nicely done! It's Marvel's slightly lighter version of Batman Begins. Everyone does a great job acting; Robert Downey Jr. hilarious and totally believable as the billionaire playboy genius, but I was most pleasantly surprised at Gwenyth Paltrow, I actually liked her .... a lot! Story was adapted great. Action was awesome and very realistic. The CGI... if only the can make the Hulk look that real.

I've been looking forward to this movie for months and I was not disappointed! From Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, to the Iron Man suit, it was great. I liked the story, the characters and the special effects were fantastic. It was loads of fun, lots of action and totally worth sitting through the surround sound technical difficulties.

I took my nephew to see Iron Man last night for his birthday. It was great. I was a little suspicious before I saw the movie because I have been tricked by cool trailers before. The storyline and characters seemed more realistic than the recent Superman Returns. Robert Downey Jr., Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges and Gwyneth Paltrow all gave good performances. Robert Downey Jr. reminds you why he deserves to be considered a movie star. Great Movie!!!!

Having been one of my child hood super-hero's, I found the new Iron Man movie to be excellent. The casting I thought was very good for the characters, and the special effects where well done. Marvel has done it again on the big screen!

I'm going to keep this short, and try not to give away any of the spoilers.
I never really read the comics, but I was familiar with Iron Man. If I hadn't been familiar with Iron Man, this movie would've explained everything well enough that I would have no problem explaining it to anyone else.
This isn't just a comic book movie, it's a masterpiece among comic book adaptions. Compared to X-Men or Spider-man, this movie feels more grown up, which is probably what made me enjoy it so much. Not to say I didn't enjoy X-Men or Spider-man, but they just didn't have the same feeling that Iron Man did.
I will be seeing this again. Oh, and if you're not in a hurry once the credits start rolling, stick around, at the end a certain well-known person makes an appearence.

Best movie of its kind. The Comic to Movie Genre is rife with less than great movies. Let's face it it holds a lot of garbage, but Ironman soars far above the rabble (in a shiney red suit!) Favreau took what is a decent comic and forged it into a fantastic movie. Who ever knew the dude from Swingers was such a wonderful storeyteller. He was able to craft a movie where the CG and Live action blend seamlessly in a "believable" fasion.
It didn't hurt to have Robert Downey Jr, Jeff Bridges, Terrence Howard and Gwyneth Paltrow in the cast. Downey portrayed a jerk of a womanizing, war profiteer turned good guy and was able to make him seem...real. Terrence Howard is always cool but I wish I would have seen more of him in the film. Hopefully we will in the sequel. Jeff Bridges plays the classic Judas without conscious to a "T". Who could forget the always beautiful Paltrow, an actress so good she could make a commercial for vioxx and I'd want to buy it.
To make it short, and I know I'm too late...SEE THIS MOVIE, you won't regret it.

Iron Man raised the bar as to what comic movies can be. Very true to the lore while updating the mythos for a new generation. It follows Tony Stark's journey from a self-centered, boozing, womanizer to the selfless man behind the machine. Robert Downey Jr. plays this character to a T, no doubt in your mind that he ISN'T Tony/Iron Man. This movie is full-throttle action with humor and heart. Can't forget to mention the little nods they threw in for the hard-core comic fans, from the CG shot of the Golden Armor, to Rhodey having the Iron Man cartoon's theme as his ring tone for Tony. There are also two major cameos to look for. Stan's is the prerequisite for Marvel movies, but the other is a shocker that you MUST sit through the credits to see. If this is any indication as to what the Incredible Hulk is going to be, Marvel Entertainment will make bank with it's first two films.

The movie was very well done. Good dialouge for a comic book film, nothing cheesy or over the top. All of the actors did very good jobs or portraying the characters scenes. The action scenes were great and blended into the story very well.

As with many movies these days, it starts out with action then flashes back to fill in the story, which helps keep the story from dragging at the beginning. The slow character / story building at the beginning of the movie has been a significant issue for many marvel movies (spider man, hulk, daredevil, to name a few). The story of Tony Stark is filled with interesting characters and peppered with humor and wit, which is quite enough to keep the audience entertained while making the characters more real. There are a few arguably predictable plot twists, great special effects and entertaining action scenes. This is a great movie, though you may want to consider the adult themes if you intend to bring young children.

Walked in with high hopes and prepared for a mixed experience, walked out with faith in the fun action adventure genre fully restored.
The movie rode in on some serious hype, Superbowl advertisments and major marketing, but it managed to live up to every bit of advertising.
Downey Jr. was in his glib, cocky yet quirky wheelhouse as Tony Stark. The supporting cast all nailed their charachters perfectly. T Howard was a perfect straigtman sidekick. Jeff Bridges was way outside his usual loveable looser niche, but nailed the cold cunning executive turned evil warlord perfectly. Paltrow pulled off the role of dotting assistant pining for the effections of her boss excellently. It was great to see top tier actors put their spin on comic book characters.
I was concerned about Favreau directing, becuase of his results with Daredevil, but I was very happy that he was able to pull this production together so well. The two films are NOT in the same league.
IronMan followed the comic enough to satisfy fanboys while being creative and fresh enough to be a fully entertaining 2 hour summer blockbuster.
CGI and effects were sharp, flashy and fun.
Top notch summer movie on par with the first Spiderman film.
