Every time a super hero movie comes out I get excited and every time I'm disapointed. Comic flix are usually stocked with B list talent glossed over with cutting edge digital effects with actual content taking a back seat to shallow dialogue and corny humor.
Until now...
Iron man exceeded all my expectations. Finally casting real men and women to play people that are supposed to be real men and strong women. Visual effects that kept me engaged with its inventiions and most importantly...
Get this...
It's funny. Not Toby Maguire / Peter Parker funny, but actually funny...

I was kind of iffy on going to watch this movie as it cost me a freakin fortune to go watch it but my son asked and i said lets do it then.... but i was pleasantly surprised as From the very beginning of the movie till the end of the move there was lots of action, fun technology and great acting... oh and the CGI was fantastic. Great Movie i give it two thumbs up! Go See iT!

Superhero movies have a large hurdle to jump - legions of fans who think it should be exactly a certain way, who are not terribly tolerant of new vision, or poor execution.
I'm happy to report that in this hit-or-miss genre of film, Iron Man hits. And hard.
Thanks almost entirely to Robert Downey Jr, one of this generation's finest actors (and lamentably, most self-destructive people) and flawless CGI, this film delivers with a punch.
It seems to make not a single mis-step. There's nothing hokey or cliche, nothing dumb or stupid, with the one problem I had with the film being the incorrect portrayal of time at one point, allowing the film's eventually-revealed villain to be far too good at controlling his creation, while we see a lot of Tony Stark's experimentation and training, we see none of the villain's, and yet he appears to be more than a match for our practiced hero.
That aside, (and that WAS my only minor complaint) I loved everything about this film. The casting was excellent, and I thought Gwyneth Paltrow was well-cast as the loyal, faithful, and quietly sexy assistant.
The moments of comedy with the robots, and the intelligent computer were welcome, not overdone, and pay off in the end.
With most super-hero films these days, I generally walk in with trepidation, not knowing if I'm going to be treated to something good, or made to watch a mediocre piece of tripe.
Glad to report that this film far more than met my expectations, it exceeded them, and I'm very very pleased.

Great movie!! I went to see this movie only because my 9 year old son wanted to see it, but I loved it. Not a big Robert Downey Jr. fan till now. He was great. Smartly funny and attractive too. I don't generally like movies this long, but this one got me in the beginning and I stayed with it till the end. Mild suggestive references were not that bad for the kids. Great plot and characters, it even had a social conscience. Made me think a little.

Really enjoyed this movie. Robert Downey Jr. and Jeff Bridges chewed up the scenery. Robert Downey, particularly, gave an interesting, nuanced performance to what could have been a cardboard character held up by stunning special effects. Jeff Bridges slithered, leading us from the fatherly persona in the beginning until we saw the serpent revealed. Gwyneth Paltrow was lovely, but in a throw away role. Thoroughly recommend it as a well made movie bringing an iconic comic book to life.

This is one of the few comic movies that stays true to the comic book. Robert Downey Jr plays a convincing Tony Stark displaying his pompus arrogance to perfection. Definately worth checking out. Be sure to stay after the credits to see a scene that could possibly set up a sequel storyline.

My family and I thought Ironman is a fantastic movie. We loved the action, I loved Robert Downey Jr. This movie has great story plot, lots of explosive, surprising actions. Keeps you glued to your seat. Will definitely buy the DVD!! GREAT MOVIE FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!!

Iron Man was out of this world. For it being 2 hours and some change there was never a dull moment. Going into to seeing an comic book adaptation movie, you never know what you are going to expect. Going in to see Iron Man expect to be blown away. It was one of the closest comic movies that I have seen as of late. Even though some things were changed so that people of this generation can relate. I also like the many hints in the movie to there being a possible part two (i.e war-machine)

Great movie. Initially I thought it would be another senseless-computer-animated-violence based film, but there's actually half-way decent plot and character development. I never thought a character as egotistical as Stark could be endearing, but Downey is fantastic, while Gwyneth Paltrow looks wonderful, as usual. The film has it's funny moments, it's sad moments, and a fair share of action scenes; overall, a nice way to spend two hours.

Having a two-year old, it's always a hassle trying to go see the latest release. But, we were so excited about seeing Iron Man that we made the effort to catch a matinee while our daughter was in daycare. It was definitely worth it. There were a few things that bothered me (for instance, there absolutely is no way he'd be allowed to ride in a humvee in a dangerous area like Afghanistan without being made to put on protective kevlar gear even if he was wearing his own lighter version), but what action flick doesn't have its "No way or BS" moments? And, I loved the ending, as I wasn't expecting the last line.

Dynamo of a movie from start to climatic finish! Robert Downey Jr. has scored a win (Oscar nod) with this movie. Gwyneth Paltrow and Jeff Bridges are fantastic supporting roles. Terrance Howard is the kind of friend I would like to have in the military.

Robert Downey, Jr. owned this film. I had my doubts last year when I heard he would be Tony Stark, but now I can't imagine anyone else in the role. Not only is there enough to more than satisfy comics fans, but there is actual acting, story development and action to appease even the most dubious of movie-goers. And it's not dark, which has seemed to be the flavor-of-the-decades for any comics movie to be taken seriously since Burton's 1989 "Batman." For once, a great, well-reviewed and well-received super-hero film that doesn't have the angst of "Batman Begins" or the soap opera of "Spider-Man." Both those films are good, but "Iron Man" knocks the superhero genre out of the park.

Even if you are unfamilar with the Iron Man comic you'll still love this movie!
It's packed with action and for the first time in awhile you can feel the charater develop by the end ( at least for me)

I will admit I thought "oh boy, another comic movie that will most likley be just a ploy to make money and have no plot" however, I was pleasently supprised to find myself so engaged at the theaters. Visual effects were fantastic and I did not feel like the store line was rushed on us.
RDJ as Stark and Jeff Daniels as Obadiah were as near perfect fits for those roles as Hollywood was going to get IMO. Even the supporting cast of Pepper Pots (Paltrow) and LTC Rhoades (Howard) did not detract from the movie. I hope this is a cast that sticks with any and all sequels to come.
The very basic introduction of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the movie makes me hope when Iron Man 2 comes out we'll get to see Nick Fury and a few others as well.
I recommend this film to any Marvel Fan (even the purist) and to those who do not usually go out and see these types of film.

Of all the super hero movies I have seen to date, this movie more than meets the mark.
For the comic book connisseur - it does not follow the original storyline, however in Holywoods own style, the movie represented the style and spirit of the characters well. The dialogue is snappy and irreverent such as the original comic book characters and although I am no fan of robert downey jr, he must be given every kudos for making this character come to life and be the devil may care playboy that was Tony Stark.
Jeff Bridges was on fire in this movie. Its a shock to see him bald - but I must say - he carries it off with a simmering bad guy bully tude. It was extremely primal/predator when he leans over the scientist who fails to replicate the reactor and chews the guy out.
The movie sets up for all sorts of sequels and spin-offs which I hope we will see. Im not sure if its truth or rumor but i heard the main characters (and hopefully the director) signed on for a 3 picture deal.
Jon Favreau as director had a great cast and allowed the movie to have a minimal foray into the natural pitfalls of other super hero movies - namely hopeless scene chewing; dialogue good for a 5 year old to spout, a poor plot line and relying on special effects to carry the day. He respected the characters and the story they came from and dressed it in todays modern world - well done.
and of course, look for the cameo appearance of Stan Lee - i hope he is rolling in dough - he deserves it for creating these wonderful characters...

This book to screen transformation was as great as RD Jr's transformation back to lead actor from his less than glorious past..
Downey did a fantastic job and was convincing as "Iron Man"
The movie presented both a story and a feeling that made it worth adding to my collection.
Although a bit violent for the little ones, it is a most entertaining movie..

This movie was done exteremely well. It doesn't follow the comic book exactly to the "T" but I really like the story they had and it does have alot of the same theme and characters from the comic book. The suit looked real and nothing looked fake about it. This is a must see movie.
