Saw this film with my dad and 10 year-old sibling and it was a lot fun for us all. Characters were incredibly fun and intriguing and the voice acting was pitch perfect. George Clooney, Meryl Streep and co. really bring the characters to life. While I have never been the biggest fan of Wes Anderson's style, I believe that his offeat manner of filmmaking is perfectly suited for this film. The jokes are simple yet sophisticated, giving all audiences, regardless of age, something to laugh at. This is likely one of the best films out in theatres at the moment (and a sure-fire nominee for Best Animated Feature come Oscar time) so take the opportunity to see this film.
I didn't know it was even possible to make such a bad film. If I hadn't been sitting with my 9 year old sister I would have walked out about 20 minutes in. Seriously.
Just to name off a few of the things wrong with the film, there's the unfunny, predictable and laborious script, apathetic acting, awful CGI and terrible direction. It seemed to me that none of the actors really cared about their roles and they were simply going through the motions for this film. NONE OF IT WAS FUNNY, especially Hank Azaria's off-putting lisp as KaMuhnRah.
I never saw the original Night at the Museum, but you couldn't pay me to see it now. Pure cotton candy fare. Save your hard-earned cash for a good family-friendly film, like Disney / Pixar's UP.
