You will be disappointed if you think you are going for a masala movie or for that matter even a movie where plots and characters move towards a common scripted goal. This movie is about everyday characters with there nuances and flaws. Above all it is about life in Mumbai. I have lived in Mumbai so it was quite nostalgic - I loved it. Acting by all the characters is suberb - Kudos to Kiran Rao for bringing out very natural acting from all the actors. The only reason why not 5 stars is the storyline could have been easily connected a little more co-herently but then again, in several places, it is like Hitchcock - left to your imagination - these are the parts where some people will hate it - I loved it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Well made movie overall

It was high time SRK came out of his angry young man and macho image and performed to his true potential - and he did. Storyline starts very well with a powerful scene from Airport security and flashes back to Rizwan's childhood. Second half of the movie drags a little and in some places Karan Johar goes over the top, a little bit. Kajol has been her wonderful self that she is and all the supporting actors have also did justice to their roles. Songs are pleasant, rhythmic and thankfully in the background.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

A very good movie overall. Dialogue, screenplay and acting stand out. Amir khan is one of the top actors of Bollywood and he has not disappointed. Boman Irani has come up with yet another character that you love to hate. A lot of humor and and dialogue is inappropriate for kids below 13 years of age. Some humor is very dry and raw - like making fun of poverty. "All is well" song is fun and catchy.

A different kind of love story

No wonder this movie is not busting the charts -it is not one of the movies you take your kids and grandkids to, and everyone comes out of the theater with warm fuzzy feeling. Heck, you even feel guilty dumping that big popcorn and soda glass into the dumpster on the way out. But you know what - thats the reality. Unfortunately the movie gives us a bitter dose of reality, excess consumerism, wastefullness and disregard for environment that has become our second nature even without realizing it.
Animation is not that great. Colors also tend to have a little more hue of yellow and rust . Storyline is mediocre but the overall impact is good. Worth watching.
