Great effects, insipid script

Imagine taking the scripts for "Billy Jack" and "Dances with Wolves" and putting them in a blender. Oh, and add ample portions of silly New Age spirituality, stereotypical characters, and a hackneyed plot. What would you have? Avatar.
The visuals are spectacular (we saw it in 3D), but everything else about the film is completely forgettable. To be honest, I didn't actually mind the stupidity of the film as much as I should have. I guess the world created by Cameron is so engaging that I didn't care that the inhabitants of that world are a bunch of dipsticks. But still, it would have been better if the whole film was done in the native language of the Na'Vi. Without subtitles.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
