I went with a friend and she and I laughed throughout the whole movie. It was just what we needed to take our minds off our country's problem and the election. Robin
I agree with World Diver. After seeing so many commercials for this movie, I was under the impression it was a satire and comedic. I almost walked out but didn't. This movie was like a documentary of George W. Bush's life. If you are a polical nut, it would be good for you, but if you really don't care about the 43rd president of the US, rent a movie. Josh Brolin was excellent and I learned a few things about George W, like he was an alcoholic until he reached 40 and got alocohol poisioning, joined AA and became a born again. Interesting... Kind of explain alot about him these days since his mind doesn't work well. Doesn't even know his left from his right... I was really disappointed and the commercials were deceiving.
I too have seen Mamma Mia on Broadway and loved it there. The movie was almost just as good as in person except for the audience. When you see a musical like this live on Broadway, at the end, the cast has everyone up and singing and dancing. I sang low to the whole movie, but the audience was just too quiet at the end when the cast practically invites you to participate. I guess maybe it's because I live in Phoenix.
I love going to the movies. Always have and always will. I don't go by reviews by the critics, I decide on my own. The reason I go to movies is to be "entertained" and taken away from my "reality" for a couple of hours. Life is tough and sometimes cruel, but when a movie can take your mind off "yourself" for a couple of hours, it's pure magic. I laughed through almost this whole movie, had tears in my eyes sometimes but it was a great movie. Even the men in the theatre laughed, so chic flick or not, it's a good movie.
