Do not see this is 2d. I wouldn't recommend seeing it in anything outside of IMAX3d, so will say the out of date tech doesn't probably use the 3d like Real3D uses but the size of it, the scope of the universe, the beauty of the environment lends itself to the all encompassing IMAX screen. The story itself will not surprise you, you will not be left sad or confused. You know exactly where this film will take you and if you allow James Cameron to tell you a story through incredible visuals you will have one of the most immersing theater going experiences of your lives. The dialogue is lame, the lessons are cheap but it made me love the theater going experience again
Yes, I recommend this movie.
