This is a really funny and unpredictable movie which truly surprises all along. Is there an audience? The first night it opened the theatre was only half-full although the audience seemed to like it. It's possibly too arty and edgy(and gay) for mainstream comedy fans but for art cinema fans the presence of Carrey might keep them away. What's great is that the gay main character is not a swish and not tragic either but a charismatic fun rogue who is also involved in a moving love story. In other words, the kind of character who is usually heterosexual. This is in many ways a truly progressive film. Plus it's the funniest film I've seen this year.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Warning: Art Cinema Ahead

This is much more an art film than a mainstream thriller and if you go into it with those expectations (and if you like art films) then you might find yourself pleasantly surprised at this ambiguous, ambitious film dealing with spiritual/sexual quests and the link between these journeys and mental illness. Robert DeNiro gives his best performance in years and Edward Norton and Milla Jovovich are also outstanding.
