Writing this review is taking all the courage I have. I'm a die hard Scully & Mulder Fan. But I can't write about something that just isn't there. I went with "medium" expectations - after all, just seeing Mulder & Scully together again, after all this time, is reward enough for me. If you feel the same, then by all means, go see it on big screen. I don't think you would be wasting your money - honest! But the plot is rather bad. I was expecting the same excitement we felt from the "government conspiracy, alien virus, smoking man epidodes or perhaps the spookey spine tingling from mom under the bed - remember that one? Yikes! (I heard this episode never made it on the air -too freaky for audiences so you might want to get it on DVD).
Again, I adored seeing Mulder & Scully, I loved hearing where they've been and I even cried when Scully remembered William! In fact, I think this movie would be better for those who are not fans of the show. You'd probably get more entertainment from it. Those of us who are familiar with Chris Carter's abilities just expected more!
Last Note: I had read that Chris & collaborators wrote the script immediately after the show went off the air, then stored the index cards away waiting for the ok to make the film. Imagine discovering that the cards were gone - and having to start all over again???? Sadly, something got lost in the re-write.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
