A Gift to the Fans

When news about this movie finally trickled onto the Internet, Chris Carter informed everyone that the movie would have a stand-alone plotline. There would be no monsters, no aliens, none of the mythology that is present in the series. And while that may have disappointed some, most fans of the series were given exactly what they wanted: Mulder and Scully. This movie is a near perfect and pleasureable look into the lives these two beloved characters have had since the series ended, and into the lives they have now. And perhaps some fans are not happy with the religious and belief context of the movie, but after having most of the alien secrets unearthed, after all the monsters Mulder and Scully have found, and after fleeing from the FBI, all they have is each other and their beliefs. And their beliefs are constantly being questioned, just as they are for everyone. So I think Carter knew exactly what he was doing. This is a great movie, a great tribute to Mulder and Scully and to the fans who love them.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
