This movie was great for what it was, a new segmant of The X Files. I know a lot of people expected more, but I enjoyed sitting there wathing Mulder and Scully thrive on the screen again.
The main story is actually not the case Mulder get's dragged into. The story is how Mulder and Scully have evolved since the ending of the show, or haven't. Scully is happy to be out of the life that brought monsters, demons, death threats, and men in black into her life. Yes, she asks Mulder to help the FBI, but only to clear his name. She forgot that he wouldn't be able to stop at just a consult. He will always find his sister looking back at him when dealing with a missing persons case.
Mulder thrived at being back in action, even without his gun. However, as always, he realized he can't do it without Scully.
The main case may be odd, a little stretched out, but it is The X Files. The case is just a tool being used to tune into the characters beliefs now.
For the fans, there are many placements of familar faces and things that are remembered from the TV Show.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
