For all its bone-crushing grit, this movie left the complexities of character unexplored and unresolved. The slow pace and the disappointing ending left me twisting in the wind. Despite some strong performances, "Precious" suffers under the weight of its own racist stereotypes, plagued by an underdeveloped story-line that leaves too many loose ends hanging.
Better than the reviewers would lead us to believe

This movie had an engaging story and some superbly filmed action scenes. The scene with the airplane crash was truly jaw-dropping and one of the best I've ever witnessed on screen. I also admired the way the director set the tone/mood of the film with crisp editing and sombre lighting effects. The plot had enough twists to keep the story from becoming too predictible. The ending, though, was deeply flawed and disappointing, but the first two-thirds of the movie was first-rate sci-fi thrills.
I hated this movie. Besides the superfluous graphic sex and violence, this movie had an incomprehensible plot. Since when do film-makers get to insult our intelligence by pretending that they can get away with cheating us out of a story just because they think we might be so dazzled by visual effects that we won't notice the plot is absurd and the characters are just props? This overly-long movie was sheer drudgery to sit through. Haven't they ever heard of editing? Don't waste your money going to see this. The screenwriter should go back to film school.
