I'd been waiting for over a year to see this movie. Damn you Disney. How do you make a sequel 20 years later and make it work? Like this.
In any case, Disney pulled a Wizard of Oz. The real world was 2D while the wondrous game world reveled in 3D. Very nice. The special effects were gorgeous, of course, but I am not sure if it was too much (does that make sense to other people who have sen the original Tron far too many times?) I did miss the yes/no crystals. Hehe.
The soundtrack was pretty sweet, performed by Daft Punk - have to remember to pick it up.
Great to see Flynn back in action (with his old young self & new old self). There is no evil like that you can create yourself (but I miss you Master Control Program!) All the new actors & actresses did a fabulous job.
The plot was fine (though I feel something somewhere in the movie was missing)), but go see Tron Legacy on the big screen. It's a ride you won't want to miss.
I want a Tron suit!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

D00D. My friends and I used to rent this movie growing up. I saw the email about this event and immediately got some peeps together.
From the opening blaring sun and oppressive desert to the high angle view down the deadly staircase, this movie was more amazing this I could have ever remembered.
I don't know what was added for the "Extended Director's Awesomeness", but I enjoyed every minute of it. It was great to be horrified again by some of the few images I remember: the flashes of the horrific devil face, the mother sitting on the bed in place of the little girl, and (of course) the head rolling.
The making of movie & interview with Linda Blair shown after the film were very intersting. I never knew "The Exorcist" wasn't some ancient actor, but learned that he was played by a middle-aged man done up with great makeup. I just wish that I had known they were showing a little something before the film, too!
Do not be fooled by the preview! This is not a horror film - more of a psychological drama. That doesn't mean you shouldn't see it though - I quite enjoyed the film.
Leonardo DiCaprio was excellent as always. The music was VERY dramatic (I almost expected Jaws or Norman Bates' Mom to spring out of one of the cells) - but still fun to listen to. The only drawback is that the twist is easy to guess.
However, I liked the slightly open ending. It leaves the viewer to decide the main character's final fate.
I only have vague memories of the Sherlock Holmes books (Holmes is a Kung Fu Master?) but this adaptation was very fun and entertaining.
All the acting was wonderful (the villain was especially haunting). The costumes (I want the female lead's dress) were lovely. The story was paced well, with drama, humour, and loads of action. I loved the supernatural/occult twist - excellent visuals on how a scary cult operates.
And of course... the mystery. Some were easy to solve as an audience member, and others were trickier - but the unfolding action lead me begging to know what would happen next.
Seeds of a sequel were planted throughout the movie (and not just hastily added at the end as an afterthought).
