Transformers 2 is not going to be mistaken for great cinema. But, if you're looking for a big screen, summer movie experience, it's not too bad. The negative reviews - poor plot, it's all bots and bods, no character development, wooden acting, etc. are valid to a point. But it's still entertaining.
The mother actually has a few extremely funny scenes, and all of the characters - other than the soldiers, have some decent moments.
I enjoyed the movie - in spite of the obvious flaws. It's big, it's loud and it's entertaining. What more do you want froma summer flick?
Special effects - good. Keanu Reeves - wooden, but he was suppoed to be. Jennifer Connelly - gorgeous (d'oh) and decent. Jaden Smth (son of Will Smith/Jada Pickett) was okay and John Cleese was good in a brief cameo. All in all - not really worth the time.
This was a fun, enjoyable and satisfying movie. It felt like a reunion with characters you've missed for a long time. Is it a great film? No. But it's definitely worth the time to see on the big screen. Indy is back - older - but he's still Indy. Karen Allen coming back as Marion was terrific. She was and always will be the best female foil for Indy. Cate Balnchett was terrific as the "bad guy." The movie is over the top, silly and wildy entertaining. It's a terrific holiday diversion.
