Yes, but...

First, I think the two Christian Bale Batman movies are the only Batman movies worth watching.
Second, I think "Batman Begins" was a better movie, although I enjoyed this one. All of the actors were excellent. I must say, though, that although Heath Ledger was excellent, the movie belongs to Christian Bale. The noble hero role can be a hard one to make interesting - Bale is outstanding. THE perfect Batman. Aaron Eckhart was excellent as well.
I love nice, long sprawling movies but, in spite of great plot twists, toward the end this one began feeling too long to me. It didn't help that I had a very hard time figuring out what was going on in the climactic action sequence.
By their nature, all of the Batman movies are a bit too unrelentingly dark and a bit oppressive for me as far as the color of the movie, and this is no exception in that regard.
The ending was quite fine and sent chills through me.
All in all, I would recommend this movie, but it's far down on my list of favorite comicbook action movies. (My #1 favorite being Spiderman 1 and my #2 favorite being X-Men 1.)
