This is a long movie by today's standards at over 2 hours, but quite honestly it would have been an incredible film if given more time to run. There are so many characters that there just isn't enough time to for them develop or for the viewer to form an opinion about their true agendas; there are twists and turns that come in too rapid a succession - the instant you think you know who the bad guy is, you find out he isn't. So you wind up really just not caring - Instead of a "wow" your reaction will be more like an "oh". Hopefully director Ron Howard gives us a 3 hour version on dvd....
Whomever cast the actors for Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty, Uhura, Sulu and Chekov gets a 10 out of 10!
While the plot is somewhat dark and convoluted, the characters themselves are what keeps your attention while your mind wanders to speculation of what follows? Whether it's a new TV series or straight to the big screen, you'll be eager for more. A wonderful film.
If you're not a fan of viewing art on the incline at NYC's Guggenheim Museum, then this movie is for you! - You'll secretly be cheering throughout the " remodel "! And you'll also get to travel to Berlin, Milan and Turkey in a whirlwind worldwide scenic tour. Clive Owen is as big a standout as the "soprano-like" behavior of the Italians is predictable. In one scene Owen frustratedly asks " How do we bring down this bank????"....well, if they own any US Mortgage-backed securities, just wait a few weeks!
I loved Casino Royale, yet I and my guest have no idea what we saw watching Quantum of Solace. We have no idea who the villain actually was, or what he was in tending to do, or what / who the Bond girls were suppose to be. No gadgets, no sexy scenes, lots of blurry fast-motion sea-sickness inspiring clips. Yet no idea what this movie was about. Advice? Wait for the DVD so you watch it several times. Maybe then it will make sense.
