Part of what made the original nightmare scary was the suspense. There is no suspense in this movie, hardly any build up at all. The special effects are TERRIBLE. I don't understand how a movie made in 1984 can have better special effects than today. Jackie Earl Haley is an alright freddy but the rest of the cast are such poor emotionless actors that there's no reason to sympathize or care at all about when their characters get killed.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I've been a fan of MST3K for a long time, but seeing a movie riffed in the theater with other fans is a great experience. They all brought the best they had and was thoroughly enjoyable even though i'm used to seeing Mike and the bots in the corner. I hope they do more in the future and I still give it 5 stars even though there were a few very short hiccups in the broadcast. :D
This movie is as close to a masterpiece as a superhero movie can get. Heath Ledger is perfect as the Joker, maniacal, vicious, and complete anarchy. I cannot think of anything I would change in the movie. That's pretty rare.
