This movie was one of the most original action thrillers I've seen in years, entertaining, thought-provoking and full of action and imagery. The acting was incredible, DiCaprio is intense but forboding, driven--like his character in Shutter Island, but more likeable. You felt for him, you were drawn in to his predicament and the complexity of what he was undertaking and the risks to escape his tortured existence. The story line and plot twists kept you intrigued and the special effects were incredible, but not the run of the mill action effects or re-hash of things you've seen before. While the story line doesn't really explore the characters deeply besides Cobb or the greed of Saito, played excellently by Ken Wantanabe, you are still drawn in by the mystique and challenge of what they are trying to achieve, something that all but Cobb dare to believe achievable. While there is little sensuality compared to most out of the box Summer blockbuster pics, the relationship between Cobb and his wife and the question of his emerging successful in his endeavor propells you through the sometimes confusing storyline and builds toward the brilliant conclusion. The score was a bit loud at times, but still well done and worked together with the other components. I thought Joseph Gordon Levitt was excellent also. The aspect of the dream layers resulting in exponential time was really cool. I will probably see this again in theater and definitely buy in Blu-Ray.
