I did find it entertaining... but not the 5 stars other believe it to deserve. Debated between 3&4 and leaned heavy, I think, simply because of the general lack mind engaging movies of late. Crowe and even Affleck were on mark. Nice film, sometimes rough edit and slow flow. (ie Cadillac coupe gets an odd–middle placed imbedded ad. Banter did not need it) It was worth seeing... but did not complete the expectation that it built. The theater audience was literally still seated, way into the credits. I think they were still hoping for some explanation or meaningful turn to come off the presses. Didn't happen. Best tease of a good movie I've seen for a while, but you'll have to finish the experience on your own...
Comes in a distant second. Great action scenes, good cinema photography / graphics (though much less effort to change Chicago into Gotham City than last version), but less clear plot and themes. Editing seemed to have a chaotic process of trying to make a story that distracted from the story of the chaos of tenaciously random evil. Numerous meaningless sacrifices portrayed as Meaningful. “Begins” was done much better… on many levels. “Dark Knight” is entertaining, but long and too random for any of the intended metaphors to stick, and will be missed by most.
