If special effects are your thing - Green Lantern is worth it. If you are looking for an engaging story, forgettaboutit. I thought it was really slow telling the story of how Hal became a Green Lantern. Fortunately, I was drinking coffee in the theater so I didn't fall asleep. I also thought the story was really cheesy and I hated the ugliness of the main character who went from good guy to bad buy. As for the female character - she went from powerful to wimpy very quickly. I hate that!! XMen was 100% better. And the female characters were powerful and engaging. As a woman, that's important to me.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Great film - entertaining, exciting. I stayed awake - which for me is rare. But best of all - it was a film portraying a real life female hero - Valerie Plame Wilson. And we wouldn't have even known about her, had she not been outted by the government. There are so many women doing great things for our country and our world but we rarely learn about them. Make sure that all the men you love see this film. And even more important - make sure every girl over 11 and young women see it. Valerie is an amazing inspiration to us all.
Maybe it was too late, maybe a light was out on the projector, but both my husband I took turns falling asleep in a very dark theater with an even darker screen at Sherlock Holmes. While I can be a film napper, my husband NEVER is, and I had to wake him up several times after I woke up. We both thought it was hard to follow the plot...and was certainly more action then clever script. We were very disappointed.
