At first, wasn't gung ho about seeing The Fighter, but after hearing a couple of reviews, and the buzz, knew it would be worth it. In the end, the movie had shown to have been worthy of its accolades, as Christian Bale's performance should have him walking up the steps of the Oscar stage in the coming year, among other Oscar prospects. Mark Wahlberg proved that his work to look like a boxer ended with his filling the role excellently. Watching the movie in the "scene of the crime," Lowell, MA, also helped in getting wrapped up in the movie.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Liked how the movie portrayed the challenges that Stark faces, outside of just fighting his enemies, and with the final battle scene it worked real well as Mickey Rourke played a fabulous bad guy. If one bone to pick, more of Black Widow (Scarlett Johannsen) would have been great, as her character added a lot.
After about 30 minutes, I was beginning to wonder what all the hype was about. Despite the early introduction of the forest and scenery, it wasn't until the the scenes involving flight did one really get amazed. The last 20 minutes of the movie, in particular, are incredible, and make one forget any lagging at the beginning. Despite some almost identical characters from other Cameron movies, one major scene at the end avoids the usual stereotype, and therefore was a bit surprising. If you plan to spend the $, you must see it in IMAX if you can, along with the 3D, it's worth the extra $. I'd give it 4 1/2 stars out of 5 if I could, but the computer won't let me.
Special effects are impressive from beginning to end, but acting by the diffrent Watchmen was more impressive than I had anticipated. Ready to add to my DVD library.
