Classic Batman Epic

This is the Batman film that fans have been waiting almost 20 years to see. Batman / Bruce Wayne goes through an amazing character arc, which is all the more impressive considering this is a sequel. The story is a huge, complex crime drama epic, a story worthy of a great character like Batman. The acting is across the board excellent, with special kudos going to Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon, Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent, and especially Heath Ledger. His horrific Joker exceeds all expectations and puts previous actors' attempts to shame (yes, including Jack). As with its predecessor, this film picks a theme and sticks with it to the end, this time being about the hard, even impossible choices we have to make. Because of those choices, each and every character in this film is changed forever. Having such change happen to the characters in a major studio franchise film is a gutsy thing to do, and it puts this movie in the league of classics like "Godfather II" and "Empire Strikes Back". This is one for the ages, a brutal, rough, adrenalized thrill ride which left the audience exhausted, mesmerized and wanting more. Best Batman ever.
