Smart and Intense

The Dark Knight was a great surprise. I didn't want to get too caught up in all of the frenzy over the movie, so I avoided early reviews. I had seen the extended trailer a few months ago and was really intrigued. The movie did not disappoint. While Christian Bale's Batman did not depart from his stoic and dark heroics, the star of the movie was Heath Ledger's Joker. Twisted and scary, the Joker stole every scene with his total pursuit of chaos. I felt tense throughout. The theme of good versus evil was wonderfully portrayed. The one drawback was that the movie was probably a half hour too long, but thoroughly entertaining.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
