Example: Best Movie Ever

Only saw it yesterday and I'm still reeling (see review title). That being said, not seeing it in IMAX at least once is missing the opportunity of, maybe, a generation - can't really go into too much detail why it's so effective without blowing plot points, but if you're able to pay attention to the fluctuating screen size (from IMAX to regular and back) while following the plot as well, you'll have an infinitely more rewarding experience.
As far as being appropriate for kids - no. Joker's not as scary (with the makeup on, the character's psychosis is a bit more explainable) as Harvey's transformation into Two-Face (seriously, I'm still thinking about it and shuddering).
But if you're old enough to see it without parental accompaniment, it's at least the best big-screen (I went with my Mom and she wants to see it in IMAX again just to catch the shifts in screen size) experience of the summer, if not an Oscar showcase for Heath Ledger.
That being said, I might need to see it in a regular theater at least once to get the whole story (there's been so much hype over this movie and so much fanboy/girl adoration and it threatens to overshadow the fact that this really is one for the ages).
