Despite a few laughs, overall this movie is a dud. I know this stuff is hilarious in will farrell's head, but he doesn't care much for writing funny for other people. Save your money or see something else.
This was a true action hero thrill ride! The action sequences, though completely unbelievable, were fantastic. Some of the lines were mumbly or were difficult to hear due to the loud noises of the action. Lots of laugh-out-loud parts and the action was from beginning to end. The writers did a terrific job of bringing out the true essence of the original A-Team. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie!
We heard good things about this and gave it a try. My wife and I almost walked out because it was so boring. Tina Fey brings her SNL skit-level acting to this. She is a B actress and not very interesting. Hardly anybody in the theatre laughed during this movie. I chuckled two or three times, and the rest of the time we kept waiting for it to get better, which it didn't. The ad-lib was easy to pick out: when the script went from bad to worse. If you like Carell and Fey, you will certainly LOVE this movie because you'll convince yourself it's wonderful. We love Carell in The Office and the 40yo Virgin, but I have yet to see anything impressive from Fey, and the two of them are fairly lousy in this trying-too-hard-to-be-funny timewaster.
It's bothersome to know that this movie is rated R. It should be X. How our standards have changed and not for the good. 20 years ago, this movie wouldn't have played in a regular theatre. I expected a little raunchy, but this was really bad. If you like this kind of thing, you'll probably love this movie. I cannot even give this one star, but I am forced to give it at least a 1.
Mediocre writing, story uninviting, not much to laugh at, and politically charged. The producers are drinking the global warming kool-aid. The Missing Link character says, “Has it gotten warmer out here? If it has, someone should tell us. That would be a convenient truth." I'm not sure how to take that. And remember, our kids are watching and listening. From now on, I will just stay away and will keep my kids away from these so-called kids films. I had to remind my kids about the true cause of global warming (and it's not us). You shouldn't have to do that after a kids movie. I was expecting something more fun, well-written, and not political, like the Toy Story films. Save your money, time, and aggravation.
Our four-year-old was terrified, story was too dark and disconnected. The vegetable man made no sense. They tried to be something of an eccentric Rattattooie-wanna-be, but missed it. Some animation resembled United Airlines commercials. I have no idea who this movie was trying to appeal to, and I wish they would use real voice actors instead of actors who happen to have recognizable voices. I thought Bolt was much more entertaining that this. I want my money back.
The special effects are second to none, and the wild ride to Narnia and back was non-stop excitement! The battles were intense and beautifully choreographed. The messages of perseverance, dignity, and belief are all poignant and respectable. It's so good to see that some in Hollywood still know how produce honorable pieces of art without killing God (like in The Golden Compass). This is a terrific picture that eveybody can enjoy (ages 6+). Some brief, sinister scenes may disturb younger children, so be aware.
