What a great time! And as far as Mr. Hoffman not submitting an "intellectual" performance, what hog-wash !!! The entire cast did a great job of A: understanding their character, B: displaying appropriate social norms of the time and place, and C: accurately and believably portraying that character living under those norms ON A BOAT 24/7 !!!!
Sorry detractors, but when you are one of a bunch of guys living on a boat, you sit around and talk about woman, woman's figures.
The actors here convince you that while they are stuck living on a boat, they do so of their own free will, to support sometthing they feel so strongly about. ROCK and ROLL !!!!!!!!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Jimmy Page. Rightfully a legend in his own time. The Edge, always suspected that he would be lost without his foot pedals, this only confirms it. And lastly, Jack White??? Jack White??? And the marketing dept. calls this a film about 3 icons??? And they're not kidding??? Holy molly. Looks like we've fallen down the hole a bit farther than we thought. How about "An Icon and a half, and an obvious poser?" Jack White???... What you can buy with a little money huh??
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Not at all bad for what it is

Is it Psycho ?? Is it Weathering Heights ?? Is it the Wizard of Oz ??? No, no, no.
But then it never purported to be. It is what it is, a moderatley interesting / plausible story line whose main purpose in life is to qualify the large use of CGI and other effects. If you are going to see this expecting your ideals of morality to be strenghtened, you need professional help figuring out what those ideals are. Because thinking that they are on display in a Sci-Fi action movie.... well...nuff said.... Only one sore point with me: the atractive brunette star is shown riding her Aprillia motorcyce twice early on. So why does this $15K Italian twin have the exhaust sound of a 2-stroke dirt bilke??? Sorry guys.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Ooohhh Boo Hoo.... There weren't enough car chases and explosions for me.....
As General Patton once said, " It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank god that such men lived!!"
Indeed. Thank you Michael Keaton for applying your skills in both acting and now directing to this fine, very worth while film.
I am willing to bet the the sole detractor here does not have to live with images and guilt that comes from having taken another's life. Unfortunately I do. BUT. I can tell you that Mr. Keaton's portrayal of Mr. Logan shows intellignece and mastery. Congrats Mr. Keaton. Very well done.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This movie is fantastic. I've seen many, many films in 2008, and Cadillac Records is easily the best of the year.
To start, a great story line that is told very, very well.
2nd, the performance of the actors portraying the various characters. Adrian Brody, Jeffrey Wright, Beyonce Knowles, and EVERYBODY in the cast turn in stunning performances.
By no means in "3rd place" are the musical performances. Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter, Muddy Waters, and Chuck Berry are truly brought back to life!! Ms. Knowles renditions of Etta's classics are to fantastic to desribe with the written word.
Go. Watch. Listen. And watch the inspiring stories of these people be brought to life to a degree that is not often reached in the film medium.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
