Were expectations too high?

Maybe my expectations for this film were too high. It had the plot, the action, the actors for it, the scenes between Wolverine and Sabertooth were captivating, powerful, provoking a primal audience reaction to their savage interaction. BUT, something was missing. Perhaps it's a lack of grittiness to tie it all together. But outside of Logan and Creed's beastial chemistry on screen, this movie seemed to rely too much on slick, clean scenes geared more for kids, than the gritty imagery of say Nolan's Batman films. This was good, but it really wanted to be so much more.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
