Liked it overall. A bit too long (got hung up in political conversations - which I liked up to a point) Heath Ledger was incredible - definitely the best thing about the movie - batman seemed almost like an after thought - I guess that was part of the problem I had with the movie, The joker was a very well drawn character, and there wasn't much room for any one else. It's like if you went to a birthday party for a friend and a celebrity showed up and all anybody could concentrate on was the celebrity, and then after the birthday party you realize that you didn't even get to talk to your friend who's birthday it was. The other thing, and this is kind of a big thing, is that now that "Gotham" is Chicago, all I could see was chicago. Also when batman enters the scene, the backdrop is so familiar and realistic that it just looks slightly comical to see a guy with a mask and cape. It's like if you were walking down michigan ave and you saw a guy in a super hero suit run by you'd have to laugh. I think that the characters need the gotham from batman begins or else they stick out - didn't work at all. I was actually a little disappointed in the film b/c it had been built up so much. I would've given it 3.5 stars if that had been an option. It's worth it just to see heath ledger's joker though.
