Avatar is stunningly beautiful. I have never seen anything like it before. Go see it.

I was very surprise that my two friends and I thought the movie was a big yawn. We all liked Hellboy, We all like Guillermo del Toro. One of my friend's summed it up by saying "I just didn't care about anyone" Maybe there was something in our popcorn?
My best guess is that the film used too many devices that had become cliche. The choreography for the fight scenes was old. All of the monsters screamed in exactly the same way which happened to be exactly like the cave troll screamed in Lord of the Rings.
The result is that the movie never really pulled us in. Oh well - it's a summer movie...
