The Dark Night

Christopher Nolan does it again (hooray!). I have seen it twice since July 17th and I am sure I will see it again. Dark and light all at the same time - a true commentary on the human condition, examining the evil while encouraging faith in the best of human kind. This is the Batman that I fell in love with as a chid/ teenager watching the New Adventures of Batman on the WB. This is Batman the way it should be. My only criticism is the character of Rachel as played by Maggie Gyllenhaal: her character was a true disappointment - weak up until the very last moment. I love Rachel in the original legend, love Rachel as played by Katie Holmes, but this time Rachel was weak, almost ditzy - a complete disappointment made more striking by the fantastic performances of the cast around her.
Anyway, Rachel aside, The Dark Knight fantastic, and I can hardly wait to watch (I hope) the many movies to follow. Oh, and plan on getting a cup of coffee afterwards with whomever you see it with - you will want to discuss.
