I thought this movie was excellent. It really grabbed you in. Since I am training to be a psychologist, it was interesting to see Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker. It felt very real, not some over-the-top caricature, but like genuine psychopathology. It actually made me wonder if playing that role is what led him to his overdose, as he seemed to really throw himself completely into it. I would have had trouble sleeping and have had high anxiety if I was required to be that person for my job. Please, realize that I am not saying this flippantly, but in genuine concern. I don't know why his death affected me so much, as I was not a die-hard Heath Ledger fan, but it did.
Well, now that I've probably depressed anyone reading this, I really do want to say that it was an excellent movie. It was action packed, heart wrenching, disturbing, and had twists and turns that kept me guessing. I would highly recommend this movie unless you're looking for only some light entertainment. This is not that movie. This is a movie that sucks you in to a dark realm. If you don't want to be there, don't see it. If you are willing to go there, though, you will not regret it. My only criticism is that it did feel a little long, but that's because it was (2 hours and 30 minutes). To sum it up, it was excellent, but a bit dark and disturbing. I kind of like that, though, so I am a bit biased.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
