I went into the theatre with high expectations and walked out completely satisfied. Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker was chilling yet humorous. There were times when the entire audience was completely silent because of their focus on his character. But, even in such an ominous role, he managed to make the audience laugh. Christian Bale is great, as always. Aaron Eckhart has the cocky flare reminiscent of his role in Thank You for Smoking. His transition from Harvey Dent to Two-Face was smooth and captivating. The only negative I can say is Maggie Gyllenhaal, although a great actress, didn't quite fit into her role. Her one kiss scene with Bruce Wayne was quite awkward, and she lacked chemistry with him. However, one could say she did this on purpose since their characters drifted apart in the movie. So, maybe the awkwardness of her role was fitting.
