Wolverine was a good example of an action flick to me. The action was excellent: it was entertaining, engaging, and didn't exceed itself. Wolverine's movie origin and the comic origin should not be confused. The comic book version of the story works for a comic book, but the way they pulled off the whole story in under two hours worked, and it worked well. None of it seemed rushed and the action always had a reason, and a good one. Nothing was just mindless fighting.
Some of the special effects didn't match up in the footage, although, to me it wasn't distracting from the story. The acting seemed excellent and the score was excellent.

Simply put: the best movie I've ever seen. Heath Ledger's transformation into the joker is virtually real. It'll make you laugh, it'll make you cry, and through it all, it'll glue you to the edge of your seat from start to finish.
And as a side note, if possible, see it in IMAX.
