Beautiful movie, story lacked

My review title says it all. Also, I felt like the 3D was equal parts conducive and distracting to the visual feel of the movie. The characters were overall well played but, for all the serious depth Burton strove to give them, everyone except Alice came off as either wasted potential (Absolom) or a shallow attempt at a deep character (The Hatter, The Red Queen). I will say that Anne Hathaway, normally no more than a pretty face on a tepid character, was perfect as the White Queen.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
