They Left Her No Choice

A vigorous spy thriller that consistently beckons the viewer to catch up with its narrative twists and turns. Bordering on convoluted, it works best when in combat mode. Haywire" is a lean, clean production, shot and edited by Soderbergh himself and utterly free of the incoherent action sequences and overcooked special effects that plague similarly scaled Hollywood pictures. A must see if you can make it through the winter weather.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

You think you're the only guy with a gun?

Involving, smartly paced and well-plotted, "Contraband" is not a movie you're going to remember for the rest of your life, but it sends you out of the theater with a feeling that your entertainment money has been well-spent. Contraband is a tidy little thriller that makes up in execution what it lacks in originality.
This universal story of a man caught up in circumstances beyond his control should play well as 2012's first true action entry. A must see.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The Devil Inside is home to moments that will shock, scare, disturb, and leave you gasping. It's a trip to the dark side that's well worth taking.

Survive the Holidays

This thriller highlights the classic beauty of Moscow alongside mind-blowing special effects. The Darkest Hour takes from past sci-fi hits and adds its own dash of originality to make a very enjoyable movie. Think Skyline, mixed with a dash of Ghostbusters, and pinch of Hollow Man and you have a holiday recipe that is sure to please. A must see this season.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

What kind of a horse?

The incredible emotive power of this horse and the way in which the filmmakers were able to translate it on-screen are what stay with you. A completely engaging throwback to the grand epics of yesteryear and the various cinematic tricks and tactics used back then to pull them off in glorious style. Robustly entertaining and must see this holiday season.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

With Evil shall Evil be Expeled

An altogether leaner, meaner, more high-powered, stylish, and deftly directed affair, though similarly hampered by a too-long narrative fuse. This is what a movie adaptation should be: a film whose base narrative has its roots in the source material but whose soul can be identified through the images that unfold on screen. The land of the midnight sun has never looked darker. A must see.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

"Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol" is a terrific thriller with action sequences that function as a kind of action poetry. The eye-candy - from high-tech gadgets to gorgeous people - has only been ratcheted up. And so has the excitement. Massively scaled and ingeniously executed, Ghost Protocol delivers the action goods in genuinely awe-inspiring fashion. A must see in IMAX.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Didn't see this in the cards, did you?

A Game of Shadows is a stronger, better realized movie that builds upon the strengths of the original and jettisons some of the weaknesses. This is a mass appeal movie that actually appeals. A well-made, witty and smart movie, one of the year's most satisfying cocktails of action, comedy and drama. A must see.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

It's a Zoo

Cameron Crowe casts a heart-warming cinematic spell that will milk many a tear from its widespread target audience. It doesn't dodge the potholes of earnest sentimentality and at times overplays the whimsy. But the uplifting tale has heart, humanity and a warmly empathetic central performance from Matt Damon. A must see this holiday season.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
