Godpanda
I wanted to give THE DARK KNIGHT 4.5 stars because it was better the Good but not quite Excellent. Don't get me wrong, (I usually do not agree with the majority of movie goers but) Heath Ledger's performance was phenomenal!!
Christian Bale was good as well as Freeman, Oldman, Eckhart and Caine. However, Maggie Gyllenhaal was not so good. There was no chemistry between her and her leading men. Part of the problem was the script which was very choppy in the beginning. It felt like the writer didn't have time for development and wanted to get right to the action. There was also a bizarre echo in the dialogue in the beginning of the movie (which could have been a theatre issue). Speaking of sound, there were a few parts where the music was too loud to hear the dialogue and you don't need eerie music to build a scene.
For you action lovers, there is plenty in this movie to keep your adrenaline pumping. And for the ladies, Christian Bale's tormented Bruce Wayne will have them swooning in the aisles.
Set aside the few distractions I mentioned above and you have a wonderful piece of film that has captured Heath Ledger's talent and will help his spirit live on in our memories forever.
