I could repeat much of what else was said re: the actors, the animals, etc. Or I could get straight to the point. I saw it twice this weekend. I was transported to another place and time. 'Nuf said!!
People get too analytical. The point of going to a movie is to be entertained. The movie was very entertaining. I loved it. Everything doesn't have to be perfect. "This guy doesn't look Persian. That guy doesn't walk right." Sheesh! Do you remember in some great movies when they used eyeliner to make American actors look oriental? It was a different time but the movies were still good. Jake did great stepping out of his usual genre. The princess was beautiful. The brothers were loyal. The backgrounds were wonderful. All in all a very entertaining movie. I would add it to my collection. :-)
I got married one month before my 35th birthday. I had the same backup plan. I suspect the other 7 women in the matinée audience may have also. :-) I thought the film was entertaining. I did think the two stars had great chemistry. I LOVE J-Lo's acting. Although there were lots of laughs, the movie didn't seem to wow me. I do recommend it though. :-)
This movie was so much better than I thought it would be. I laughed out loud more than once. The blood was a little much for me - and surprising with such a young person's storyline - but I still thought it was really good. I want Hit Girl's purple wig! LOL
I LOVED this movie. The story, the kid characters, the grown up characters, the voices (Gerard and Craig were SO funny), teh excellent animations and THE DRAGONS! LOL Don't miss it on the big screen.
The first thing I thought when I left the theatre was how genuinely deep this story was. Nothing flashy. Nothng melodramatic. Nothing specifically religious. Just genuine optimism founded in faith. Human faith in our own ability to stay on a just path regardless of horrific obstacles. I don't think anybody else could have been as convincing in this role as Denzel. And I disagree wtih the critics about the young female actor. I thought she portrayed her role well. The ending was quietly breathtaking. I heard gasps in the audience when they realized what was unfolding.
The 1-star voters missed an important point. This wasn't the military. They were mercenaries, people! Nobody was wishing for the military to be defeated. We (tree-huggers like me) were rooting for a more holistic perspective of a new world to win over plain old fashioned, short-sighted greed. Besides that, the characters were compelling, the fantasy flora and fauna were spectacular and the hero and heroine were SEXY! What a great movie. I am headed back today to see it for a 4th time. I don't like Cameron, but he does make a gooood movie. (It's odd that he creates such strong women characters but doesn't treat them very well in real life...)
Unbelievably awesome. The first movie was great. This one was even better! The acting was more believable. Kristen was MUCH better - and she acted Bella's grief perfectly. The CG for Edward's skin was much better. The wolves looked much better than earlier previews (thank goodness.) The story was as close to the book as can be expected. Tha audience literally gasped at the ending. And - MAN! - Tyler made adherence to Team Edward REALLY difficult! Well worth 6 weeks of holding my breath!
I can't help it - I'm an incurable romantic. So sue me! If there is "shouldn't be" love that works, I'm hooked. McAdams is so convincing on screen. I also thought the little girl who played their 9-10 year old daughter was great. I too liked Bana better than Pitt in Troy and have been a fan since that performance. And I agree with another reviewer - his hind end is its own character in this movie!
Who ARE these unhappy people who would give such a delightful movie a low score. The characters were interesting. The story was logical. The presentation was entertaining. What a bunch of grouches! I LOVED it and am going back today to see it again for the third time. It lifts my spirits. It makes me laugh. It depicts the human race fixing what they broke. The animation is marvelous. And the little cockroach - survival of the fittest, baby! Wall-e is a cool little dude. I will buy this one when it comes out on DVD. Eva!
