Great for what it was

This movie was great for what it was, an action packed sci fi event. However as an old shcool trekkie I do have issues with this movie that for now will prvent me from really considering this a part of the Star Trek universe. There were many many areas where established mythology was blatantly ignored and the movie in general completely alters the history of the Federation in a manner that I am sure Gener Roddenberry would never have approved of. I understand that Paramount is making a bold attempt to bring Star Trek to a whole new audience, but they are adoing so at the risk of losing viewership from the three previous generations who have made the franchise a succes.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
