I read all 4 books. The books I enjoyed...the movie not so much. The acting was over the top, the "special effects" were cheesy. The story was okay...but the movie didn't really show the development of Bella and Edward's relationship. This being said, I hope that they make New Moon and that it's better than Twilight was and does the book more justice.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I took both of my children (13 and 7) to see this yesterday. They both LOVED it. It was cute and original. Was it a cinematic masterpiece? No. But it was entertaining. What amazes me are all the negative reviews regarding the content. You can't shelter your kids from everything. It was no worse than most cartoons on TV. And to the poster above, this movie absolutely does NOT condone evil. It's all sunshine and happiness in the end when the characters realize they aren't evil and don't want to be. Maybe if you naysayers had stayed for the rest of the movie, you'd have seen that.
All in all, it was worth it. My kids loved it, I was entertained enough to watch, and the film actually did have a good message in the end.
