Pays too much homage to the old star trek in my opinion, especially as the movie progresses. But a good movie overall and I thought the casting was particularly good.
Turns out to be a psychological thriller that tries to explore the good and evil in everyone.
Great spectacle and sound on IMAX. Dr. Manhattan was freakishly detached from humanity (believably so). Good character acting. Rorschak was disturbing but engrossing. Some overly gratuitous violence. Fairly slow pacing.
Interesting, but too negative of a view of human nature in my opinion.
Potentially interesting story that was handled clumsily. Typical Hollywood stereotype of the military - Kathy Bates' character was completely irrational. Subplot with Jaden Smith was horrible. Who gives screentime to a whiny child for 45 minutes? For all the criticism of Keanu Reeves, he was the most understandable character in the movie! I'll give props to Connelly for trying, but she couldn't save the poor directing/script. Coolest thing in the movie was by far THE ROBOT!!! But he gets maybe 3 minutes of screen time? What a waste. Should have cast the robot in Jaden Smith's role instead!
