Charming and Compelling

My husband and I saw this the same day we saw Tron: Legacy. The contrast between the two was notable. Wherein Tron was visually stunning without character, this was loaded with characterizations that were almost instantaneous. Every erg of potential was used to the fullest. Even the 3D was smoother without doubling up every time you turned your head. Not sure why that was different, but it was, and for the better.
The movie was funny, inclusive. Disney continues to amaze with their ability to make creatures like chameleons approachable and cute, to bring characters to life with little/no dialog and a few seconds. We'd actually lost our pre-paid tickets and had to buy replacements. It was still worth it. I can't wait to show the kids.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Fails to Live Up to Potential

My husband and I had looked forward to this. We both agreed that, visually, it was quite impressive. Unfortunately, the pretty graphics and light-cycle scenes did not make up for the lack of story and character. Too many potential lines were left dangling: Dillinger's son, the original board, the operating system - none of which were in the digital world.
Predictable, slow-moving, with characters that had no soul, I could not recommend this film to any but the most forgiving fan of the original.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Why I Love Movies

This movie has everything I look for in a movie: action, drama, pathos, plausible science, good characters, credible plot, stunning visuals, a message that means something, little details that thrill and charm, humor. This movie hit the mark on everything (except the humor).
The time flew by. I could readily have turned around and seen it again (and I will do so later this week, with more friends and my husband who saw it with me).
For those who say the greedy company destroying a culture, an ecosystem precious beyond measure, is over the top, I say, look harder at the world around you. It's happened here, over and over. It's happening now. If this was a lesson well learned, we would have stopped by now.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Best Pixar yet

We love Pixar movies, no exceptions, though some have stood out more than others. But this one stood out even so. The animation was so excellent it looked real up to the point of dealing with the humans on the Axiom. Movements and objects, lighting and sounds - perfect. Wall-E is easy to love in the first ten seconds and that feeling of sympathy and affection, admiration and respect never wanes. Wall-E is true blue, lovable and a comic genius. It was funny, touching, thought provoking. It was one of the most romantic Pixar films ever and one of the most socially conscious. I can't praise this film too much.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
