Better than the Shrek The Third but not the others

Far as a story goes, I would have rather seen this one as the third movie. The story is decent though a bit rushed in places. The 3D/IMAX of course adds a little value to enhance your viewing pleasure (AM Cinema of course for the best pricing and least hassle). I have to say that after seeing Avatar that the 3D/IMAX presentation looks a little dated and there was a lot of unexpected motion blur in some places, enough to be annoying. I checked my glasses a few times for smudges and it was definitely the movie. I don't think Shrek Forever After is a must see, but if you have time to kill and a kid to please there are worse things to do.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

if you or your kids have seen the movies before. since the grrl and I have seen the movies lots of times at home, i would have rather spent the money on seeing cloudy with the chance of meatballs.
The movie itself was great as everyone else has posted/advertised. Unfortunately in my area and particular theater (Central FL-Altamonte Springs), AMC marketed this as an IMAX movie when it was basically a digital presentation on a slightly larger screen with some enhanced sound. I'm sure there is some marketing BS to cover the discrepancy, but make sure you see the movie on a properly sized IMAX screen; if its at your local multiplex, chances are it might not be the real deal.
i saw this with our 5 year old and we were both entertained. reese witherspoon was excellent, the plot was fulfilling, and the back story was compelling without any obvious holes. you wont feel stupid for seeing this if you like animated movies and have a kid (or a kid's sense of humor).
I saw this with my soon to be 5 year old. Personally, I thought the story arc was too close to Cars (Exciting set-up, long boring coming of age story and exciting end) but it wasn't too horrible. The girl got a little bored by the end. I'm very happy we chose to see the 3D version as that made the experience much more enjoyable and made the difference for me between a positive and negative review..
