Fun, Fun, Fun! This was every bit as wonderful as I wanted it to be, waiting much too long between Bond films. Loved the opening sequence and titles. I would have liked a stronger motivation for the villain, but Javier Bardem was extraordinary--funny and crazy and lethal...really scary. The depth of character development was refreshing. Loved the new Q and other new characters and enjoyed Bond's healthier, more believable relationships with colleagues and peers. I would have liked more screen time with Berenice Marlohe. I think she broke my heart. And as for anyone who thinks this is too long: Get screened for diabetes. Except for having to pee, there is no such thing as a too-long Bond film!
Pros well paced, great actors, great character development
Cons took too long to make!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Bourne Legacy takes a lot for granted but pays off for action-thriller devotees.

Great acting, great cinematography and art direction, and an earnestness to be contemporary make this a satisfying popcorn film. No one in the theatre knew what was going on for the first hour, and that botherd some and intrigued others. All the actors were so good, they were fun to watch. Rachel Weisz was particularly convincing as a beautiful scientist, somehow avoiding the Bond girl caricature. Edward Norton is super-believable as an American behind-the-scenes power player. Renner is physically and emotionally convincing. I'm sure everyone misses Matt Damon and I hope they figure out how to continue the series with his character and Renner's and a more cerebrally engaging story.
Pros fun to watch.
Cons story line stretched thin.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Though I loved the artful presentation of a new world and the stark differences of color, sound, and light between the capital and the outlying districts, and felt endeared to the protagonists, enjoying masterful acting, I wish the writers could have gone deeper. I missed any rich dialogue which might have given important insight into the characters, their history, their hopes and disappointments, deeper motivations. Write me some suspense, rather than pop-out monsters. What do the people of the capital really know about the world outside their district boundary?
Pros great story, great actors, jennifer lawrence, art design/direction
Cons not deep enough, earl hamner jr. didn't write the script, dalton trumbo didn't write the script
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Eastwood's first disappointing film

The aging makeup was so distractingly bad, exascerbated by the jumping around of the chronology--young to very old to middle-aged to young to middle-aged, etc., it was hard to fall into this film. As a middle-aged man I enjoyed the narrative history of iconic events, some of which I remember well. I'm shocked that no one of the creative team was bothered by the things that bothered me and everyone else I've spoken to about it.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I enjoyed the setting and cinematography and the inside look at 1930s circus life, but the plot was way too predictable and simple for me. I was surprisingly impressed with Pattinson and surprisingly unimpressed with Witherspoon, though it's possible I don't like how her character was portrayed as written and directed.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I loved the political intrigue, parallelism to today's political scene and subject matter of this film. I always trust Redford and he did not disappoint. The setting was convincingly conveyed and took me away in an engrossing adventure that gave me everything I wanted from a movie. The performances were wonderful and nuanced where appropriate, exaggerated where appropriate.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

A must-see!

This is a loving, inspiring, morality tale in the mold of Frank Capra. An excellent script is perfectly acted in all its lead roles with minor disappointments in the portrayals of peripheral characters such as Wally Simpson, Churchill and Derek Jacobi's Archbishop of Canterbury. Geoffrey Rush and Colin Firth are perfectly compelling and so much fun to watch. Supporting scenes within the characters' families are warm and appealing. Don't miss this film!!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Toy Story III is so we'll written it will make you wish Pixar execs were vetting every other movie you go see. Knight and Day was nowhere near as clever or as moving from belly laughs to crocodile tears. Most movies are just stupid. That's the result of writing and producing by committee. Toy Story III flattered me by challenging my intelligence and emotional breadth.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Screwball (Comedy) Thriller

Some really great action and great acting save this plotted-by-a-committee tale. Nowhere near as intelligent as a Hitchcock thriller, nowhere near as funny as a 1930s Screwball Comedy, [SPOILER ALERT] but the plane crash landing and the bulls running over the car were worth the price of admission. Diaz is so sexy; the nerdy geek and the inside traitor were perfectly portrayed.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Compellingly told with attractive cast and sensitivity toward all its characters, including the hapless Iraqis, this movie should be seen by all Americans, exposing us to the realities we've created for ourselves and others.
