It's a great movie, but pay attention closely. It's a real challenge to keep up with multiple storylines representing the dream states. Explanation of dream sharing "technology" is very believable and sounds scientifically valid. The movie is far more believable than most sci-fi. Acting is first rate.
The movie starts as a very believable portrait of Superman gone bad, or at least down on his luck. A perfectly ordinary guy promises him friendship and family, and it seems that's enough for him to change his life after a series of alcohol-induced mistakes. The prison and support group scenes are great! But then a supernatural twist is revealed and the movie tries to do too much to fit it in. This could have been a fabulous movie of redemption and friendship. The effects, for once, are complementary to the theme and do not overpower it. Instead, it's another missed opportunity.
Another note- the foul language in this movie is completely unneccessary. It's one that will be improved by the TV censors when it goes to the networks.
As a love story, Wall-E flies. It's simply amazing what can be conveyed by the two stars without any real dialogue and very little body language. As an adventure movie, it's also top notch. Unfortunately, it is marred by the typical "we will destroy the earth and become worthless ourselves" message that Hollywood tries to cram down everyone's throat.
