I can see that the movie did a good job telling a story. I will admit to not being familiar with the books. There were times when I thought the movie moved a bit slowly. But, I can see why the 'idealized' vampires and wolves are an attraction to the young people. The nearly 'cerebral' nature of the vampires in the movie are quite different from the simply bloothirsty' vampires of movies in my younger days. But, each generation has its 'spin' on things.
I found the message was effective using animation. As an 'older' person I thought that a 'cartoon' may not 'work' for me. However, I was aware of Pixar's anitmation reputation. I wanted to see if the 'rep' was deserved. I found the reputation well deserved. The animation was exquisitely executed. In all--Wall-E was a thoroughly enjoyable movie with a 'message' (taking care of our planet) that was put across very effectively.
