Tower Heist was a good fun movie. A little high on the "PG-13" low level jokes, but with still enough other entertaining features to make it worthwhile. Even though produced by Eddie Murphy, it was Ben Stiller who really carried the film.
This was an amazing movie that was able to capture some of the drama that occurs in nature. The creators literally spent years collecting the incredible footage that went into telling this story. Warning: there is a lot of fighting (some serious and some not) and hunting (all serious). The editors did a nice job of not showing of the actual killing, but there is a little eating and the message is clear. This may not be appropriate for some children who are sensitive. Overall, this was REALLY exceptional, though, and worth seeing at any age.
Good 3D, special effects galore, great job "youthing" Jeff Bridges. Garrett Hedlund does a nice job and Olivia Wilde is always great to watch - nobody even called her "Thirteen".
Only giving it three stars because it just doesn't have universal appeal. At least it's not a techno-remake of "Dances with Wolves"
The bottom line: if this is a movie that interests you, shell out the bucks and go see it in the theater. Waiting for the video on this one would be a disappointment.
This was a really fun movie waiting for real fun to occur. Nothing seemed very real. The "connection" didn't seem to be there the whole movie. I don't review a lot of movies, but I thought I should warn people on this one....
Excellent movie - not an entirely original plot, though. The 3D effects were very good and didn't detract once you were used to them. A "theater must see".
I remember G.I. Joe as a guy in camo that you could pose and stuff, so going into the movie I knew that I was in a totally different world. As an action film, it delivers, and actually hangs together plot wise to make most of the fighting make sense. You have to overlook a few departures from natural physics, especially in the underwater scenes (huge ~fire~ explosions, fast action "flying", and falling ice chunks - doesn't ice float?), but roll with it and you'll have a great time. On the other hand, if you are going for drama, I didn't think much of the film. The bad guys were campy and overdone, and the good guys were, too. I suppose that the average person going for this movie is not there for the academy award winning performances.
1. If you spend a lot of time watching the Nature channel or nature shows, there isn't going to be a lot of new information here for you. Some of the scenes, I believe, were lifted from other footage I've seen before. 2. There is more "circle of life" reality here than might be appropriate for really young children. Disney didn't create nature, folks - sometimes the weak really do lose.
If you like the book, you should love the movie. Unlike a lot of movies that drastically re-write things to make them faster paced or more action filled, the creators of this movie took the time to let this story play out. The "graphic" level was turned up about a notch and a half more than I was comfortable with, but true to the nature of the novel. Avert your eyes for a few seconds to pick up your drink, take a sip, and it will be over. NOT your standard superhero movie, but if you are up for something more real, this was awesome!
