My daughter and I took her children, ages 4 & 8 and we all enjoyed this wonderful picture! Having just seen "Hop", which I thought was a bland and stupid, yes, stupid movie, I was hesitant to sit through another 90 minutes of pap. BUT! This movie grabbed us all from the very beginning with the music, the animation, the characters. Children will gently learn about how some pet stores are stocked, the kindness of most creatures and what Rio really looks like from the splendor of the city to the squalor of the slum areas. A happy ending for the humans, the birds and a little orphan. Don't miss this film!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

"The King's Speech" drew me in from the opening scene! Colin Firth is brilliant as King George VI and surely deserves Best Actor at the Academy Awards. Helena Bonham Carter is outstanding as well. The set designs, the costumes, the music, casting and paying attention and respecting historical information all make this movie extraordinary.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I took my 4 year old grandson (who now thinks he's Flynn Rider, and my 8 year old granddaughter and they thoroughly enjoyed this Disney action film! Rapunzel is a good role model for girls to stand up for themselves and follow dreams. Flynn Rider is certainly redeemable going from bad boy bandit to a good guy. My only complaint with this movie is the healing power of Rapunzel's hair. Wouldn't we all wish to have healing powers? But we don't and therefore explaining loss of pets or family to young children who believe in the healing powers of Rapunzel's hair and then wondering why their dog wasn't healed was difficult to my grandkids whose dog died a few months ago. Yes, Yes...I know it's a fairy tale but in the real world, no matter what we do, we will have loss.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

As always, the animation is superb. The story line felt dark and heavy, lots of anger, fighting and even the witches striking "Donkey" with a whip seemed overdone. My 3 1/2 year old grandson stated shortly into the movie "I don't like this move, I want to go". His 7 year old sister followed the story line. Overall, I thought this was a disappointing movie and a let-down of a sequel.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I took my 6 year old granddaughter and we loved this movie; she was able to follow the story line, loved the music and I thought it was a good lesson for children and the grown-ups to hear in our materialistic world - money and fame isn't everything and doesn't make you happy. People who love you enough to discipline you are the best people to have in your growing up life.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I took my 5-year old granddaughter and she did not enjoy this movie. I felt it was too intense for children her age and agree with a previous writer who felt it should be rated PG-13 and better suited for children 10 and up, perhaps. Scenery, though animated, was beautifully done and the Chinese culture well-represented. The death of the turtle was sensitively handled without being morbid and that surely offset the violence of the final battle.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
